Heat conduction refers to the transfer of heat by molecular agitation without any motion of the material as a whole. This means that in solid objects like a metal rod when one end of which is heated, the heat is transferred from the area where the heat is applied to the area away from the source of heat through the movement of the molecules that make up that object.
